Types

  • Awning Window - Sash is retained at the head and projects outward (horizontally) from the sill via a manually operated chain winder.
  • Casement Window - Sash is retained by friction stays and projects outward (vertically) from either the left or right side jamb.
  • Fixed Window - Coupled to awning and casement windows to form architecturally designed combination units.
  • Face Fix - Specially designed framing system allows for 'on-face' fixing methods required for modular and transportable style building structures

Features:

  • Chamfered exterior face of the standard sash (048-203) promotes the shedding of water and dust while enhancing the window's overall appearance.
  • A dual-seal system provides excellent weather proofing to the awning and casement windows. It comprises an interior 'continuous' compression seal and an exterior wiper seal.
  • Sash corners are mitred, staked, mechanically crimped and silicone sealed for superior strength, rigidity and long term performance.
  • Optional glazing bead (048-206) reduces the amount of exposed glazing vinyl visible on the interior.
  • Frame is compatible with 131 Series couplers & the 474 Series glazing bar is suitable for the 048-203.
  • Multiple sash and continuous jamb window wall configurations possible (see Configurations).

Awning Window Specific Features:

  • Sashes are 'top hung' through the use of a concealed hinging system at the head. This feature eliminates the need for stays making chain winder operation necessary.
  • Performance. A maximum water penetration rating of 600 Pa. Project requirements greater than 600 Pa. and less than 650 Pa. will be considered on a case by case basis.
  • The sill and transom section (048-119) is 'stiffened' with an internal box section to cater for larger spans and provides a secure mounting for the chain winder.
  • An integral, screen retention system allows any screen to be neatly fitted into the frame and easily installed or removed from the inside.
  • The standard chain winder features a fold-able handle and a fully extended opening of 250mm.Travel of the chain can be restricted on low rise building applications. Single & multi-point remote winder mechanisms for hard-to-reach handles can be adapted if required.

Casement Window Specific Features:

  • Multiple sash and continuous jamb window wall configurations possible (see Configurations).
  • Performance. A maximum water penetration rating of 450 Pa. Project requirements greater than 450 Pa. and less than 600 Pa. will be considered on a case by case basis.
  • Lever type, wedgeless handle offers simple and secure locking (key-lock optional).

Limitations:

  • Glazing. The standard sash (048-203) caters for 3 to 6.38mm glass, while a 'double glazed' dedicated sash (048-207) with bead accommodates 3 to 8.38mm single glazed or 20 & 24mm insulating glass units (IGU).
  • Maximum sizes: Size limits apply to the various wind load regions and building classifications as per AS2047-1999 and air-conditioning requirements. Consideration should be given to the fall protection requirements on all operable windows. Hardware limitations also apply. Contact your G.James representative for further information or request contact.
  • Minimum awning sash width is 350mm.
